How To Apply

Each year we employ approximately 100 enthusiastic and motivated graduates across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. We look for people who share a common set of values centred on leadership, integrity, teamwork and performance.

Before you submit your online application for the Thiess graduate program, you’ll need to select the appropriate discipline. You can find what options are available in the Apply Now! section of this website or by searching for graduate opportunities on the Thiess corporate site.

Once you have selected a discipline, you will need to choose which part of Thiess you would like to work. Your four application options are Thiess Mining, Thiess Construction, Thiess Services and Thiess Corporate. To find out more about our different businesses and what they do, please have a look at our corporate website. We will also ask you to nominate your preferred location by state, so think about whether you will be prepared to travel and where you will be comfortable living.

Once you have chosen from these options you will need to register through our recruitment website, following the set processes. Unfortunately we do not accept faxed or posted applications.

We will confirm we have received your application by email. Please make sure your application has been completed properly as we may not be able to consider incomplete applications due to the high number of applications received. If you progress to the next stage, you will be asked to take part in a 15-20 minute phone interview to find out more about your experience, your education and what you are looking for.

If you are successful, you will then be invited to attend one or more structured interviews, which can take up to one hour each. In the interview itself, you will be asked for examples that demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experiences. The interview is also a great chance for you to find out more about Thiess and the potential role. You will be encouraged to ask questions and seek clarifications.

Don’t be nervous. Before your interview, we will talk to you in detail about the interview process and location, and any special needs or concerns you may have.

For some roles, further assessment items such as psychometric testing or pre-employment medicals may be necessary. We'll let you know more about these items if they apply to you at the interview stage.

Once interviews and any further assessment items have been completed, we will contacting the referees you originally nominated as part of your online application. Professional referees will usually be previous supervisors or managers. At this stage, we recommend you contact your referees so they know to expect a call from us.

If successful, you will be made a verbal offer explaining the package being offered. If you verbally accept the offer, you will receive a formal letter of appointment. You will need to sign and return this paperwork to us to confirm your employment.
